Saving the Abacan River: Restoring a Lifeline

The Abacan River continues to tell a story—one shaped by the communities that live alongside it, the challenges brought by pollution and waste, and the people who have chosen to take action.
What began on Earth Day 2025 as a cleanup initiative has grown into a sustained movement bringing together volunteers, communities, organizations, businesses, and government partners in the shared responsibility of protecting the river.
Through the Abacan River Cleanup Drive, thousands of volunteers have come together to remove waste, raise environmental awareness, and help restore the river—not simply to make it look clean, but to help make it healthy and resilient for generations to come.
Anchored on the call of “Isang Pintig para sa Malinis at Ligtas na Tubig,” the initiative reminds us that protecting our water resources is a responsibility we all share.
