Encouraged by its slate of acquisitions in Davao region (Mati City, Carmen), SBRI was able to secure its first new franchise of 2019 with the successful signing of Digos City, in Davao Del Sur, on April 10, 2019. The signing of the 35-year Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was inked formally by Hon. Mayor Joseph Penas, who prevailed upon the LGU to consider SBRI’s proposal of establishing a parallel level III system in expanson areas and underserved barangays of the City. While the Digos City Water District would remain the dominant operator in the capital, SBRI promised to offer adequate water provisions in at least two urban-fringe barangays as a pilot endeavour by harnessing one of the LGU’s major spring resources.
Digos City, a booming urban capital 60km south of Davao City, is a second class city with a population exceeding 170,000 persons.
